The most appealing aspect of the textbook is the format of clear and practical explanation coupled with easily understood color illustrations. And while this textbook contains all the information necessary to grasp the basic principles of motor controls, it leaves out all the unnecessary information that clutters many other textbooks (and thus inhibits a clear path to understanding and comprehension).

I appreciate that all information is presented within the context of the National Electrical Code and that the bonus material over Article 430 is included. The paraphrased text of the NEC is very helpful to electricians.

As an electrician with many years of working with controls before becoming a continuing ed instructor, I have a great appreciation for the excellent job the author has done in communicating basic motor control principles in this textbook.

Double check before confirming

Not what I was expecting. I order this book thinking that it was as advertised, instead I got an acient (pre-print editition) that looked like a bad copy made at Kinkos (the cover didn't even match the content). Although I contacted the publisher, and the copy turned out to be legitimate, this version of the book was not properly advertised at Amazon. No wonder it was at such a good price.

About the Author
Father Reginald Garrigou-Lagrange, O.P., was born in 1877 and is held as one of the greatest Catholic theologians of the twentieth century. He focused his writings against the error of Modernism, which denied the objective truth of Divine revelation, as well as on apologetics, including philosophy. In total, he authored over five hundred books and articles, and wrote as a thorough Thomist. Among Father Garrigou-Lagrange s numerous works are The Three Ages of the Interior Life, Christian Perfection and Contemplation, Christ the Savior, and God, His Existence and Nature. He died in 1964.

This book is totally amazing. If you liked Fire Within by Fr. Dubay, you'll love this more indepth look at growth in the spiritual life. It's greatest strength over Fire Within is that he includes how spiritual progress looks in the life of an active person living in the world. It is full of useful and practical information for growth in holiness.

Walking interiorly with God

This work is a summation of Thomist (St Thomas Aquinas) theology, and draws much from St Therese, St Francis, St Francis de Sales, among many other important spiritual teachers down through the ages.

It is an opus maximus, and as such, it has much to offer. But, then, I've culled approximately 30 pages of notes to highlight the main points. Much filler and background can be set aside. Fr. Garrigou-Lagrange has an extensive bibliography, and several of his derivative works are more concise than this huge tome. Don't get me wrong, this work is important, and has it's place on my shelf. But, it's half a year's study for most of us, and for lay-people like myself, it's a very large mountain to climb.

I do recommend this work, highly! But, be prepared to invest a large amount of time and thought :)
