Great Book to Teach From

I teach ESL, so non-native speakers, and this book is not intended for that purpose. It is aimed at teacher-training programs for native speakers who will have to teach English grammar to their students. As a person with an MA in linguistics, I highly recommend this textbook. It explains what "standard English" requires, while also explaining where the rules break down and how people actually use English. I would love to teach a course using this book.

Pretty good

I bought this as a textbook for one of my college classes - obviously - and it's very reliable. It's written well and has clear examples, though some of the practice exercises are a little confusing (and my instructor agrees).
